Kilimanjaro Machame Route TREKKING -Park Kilimanjaro
The second most popular is the Machame Route, also called the Whiskey Route. This route is 6 days with longer hiking distances than the Marangu Route. There are no sleeping huts, so climbers sleep in tents. This route is more beautiful, and a higher percentage of climbers reach the summit.
You arrive at Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast. Transfer from the Lodge to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate at Machame. From here you trek through the lush forest to Machame Hut (3,000 m). Stay overnight at Machame Camp
Leaving the forest, the path follows a steep ridge passing through heather and open moorlands and crossing a large gorge to reach Shira Hut (3,800m). Overnight stay at Shira Camp
You turn eastwards and continue ascending through the dry landscape before dropping again to reach Barranco (3,900 m). Stay overnight at Barranco Camp

Extra day to acclimatise at Karanga Valley – 3950m. If you choose these option, expedition will end a day later.
The path climbs steeply out of Barranco Valley, crosses the Karanga Valley and turns north to reach Barafu Hut (4,600 m) Stay overnight Barafu Camp
A long day and an early start to reach the crater rim at Stella Point in time for sunrise. Then continue on to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Descend to Barafu and down on to Mweka (3,000 m). Overnight stay at Mweka Camp
Descend to the park gate. You are transferred back to Lodge for your dinner and overnight stay
Breakfast in hotel. End of your tour

All year except April and May (rain season);December – March – the best conditions and temperature for trekking; July – September – good conditions but colder; October – November – short rains possible.
At any time during trekking, at the top is very cold temperature (- 20 degrees), high humidity, low air pressure, windy and it’s snowing.
The mountain is part of the Kilimanjaro National Park and is a major climbing destination. Kilimanjaro is the highest solitary massif in Africa, and rises approximately 4,877 metres from its base to 5,895 metres above sea level. Kilimanjaro consists of three peaks: Uhuru (5895m asl, there is Kibo – the highest volcano in the world ), Mawenzi (5150m asl) and Shira (3940m asl). There are six traditional climbing routes to the top. The easiest of these is the Marangu Route – reaching at the summit and the descent to the gates of the park takes minimum five days. You can also make a trip to the Shira Plateau, on the lower floors are botanical trails.
National Park is located around Kilimanjaro mountain and it’s situated near the town of Moshi in Tanzania. Park was created in 1910 as a nature reserve, in 1921 received additional the status of forest reserve. Since 1973 the hill above the line of the forest are a national park (open to the public since 1977). In 1987 Park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
